Steven Soderbergh is a film actor, director, producer and screenwriter who was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 14, 1963.

He gained recognition with his directorial debut, "sex, lies, and videotape" (1989), which was nominated for an Academy Award and won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Later films include KAFKA (1991), THE LIMEY (1999), ERIN BROCKOVICH (2000), TRAFFIC (2000, Oscar, Best Director), OCEAN'S ELEVEN (2001, sequels 2004, 2007), and SOLARIS (2002).
